WEST NOBLE 4, WAWASEE 2
Wawasee looked to be coasting to a quality road win before West Noble took command.
The Warriors used goals from Chris Pena in the fourth minute and Kenyan Cotton in the 37th minute to take a stunning 2-0 lead on the Chargers. But a West Noble goal just before half sliced the lead in half.
West Noble dominated the second half, posting goals in the 47th, 59th and 67th minutes to regain control of the match.
West Noble outshot Wawasee 14-7 and had 11 of its shots head on goal. Dillon Drake and Evan Dippon combined for eight saves for the Warriors.
Wawasee lost the JV game 2-1.
Wawasee (2-3) will visit Elkhart Memorial Monday night in NLC play.
CONCORD 2, NORTHWOOD 0
For the second time in as many games, NorthWood has been shut out in the Northern Lakes Conference slate.
Concord used goals from Brandon Amaya and CJ Pollock to get the job done, Amaya assisting on Pollock’s tally and Ariel De La Paz getting the helper on Amaya’s tally.
Luke Lingle made six saves in net for the Panthers while Landon Parker and Jerson Sanchez each took three shots for the Panthers.
NorthWood (2-2, 0-2 NLC) will visit Bremen Monday.
WARSAW 0, MISHAWAKA MARIAN 0
Goalkeeping was on display Saturday in a battle of state-ranked programs.
Warsaw keeper Harrison Mevis made six saves while Knight stalwart Hunter Renner snuffed a Warsaw penalty kick to keep the Tigers off the board in the scoreless draw. The Tigers are No. 12 in the Class 3-A poll, Marian is No. 4 in the Class 2-A poll.
Warsaw’s junior varsity did pick up a 5-1 win over Marian. Goal scorers for the Tigers were not immediately announced.
Warsaw (2-0-2) will meet Concord (4-0-1) Wednesday in Tiger Town.
