MISHAWAKA – Taking on a pair of Northern Indiana Conference foes Saturday, Triton split its two boys tennis matches. In doing so, the Trojans got its first win of the year in beating Riley, 4-1, and lost its third in a 3-2 final against Mishawaka Marian.
Gavin Eads at one singles lost just one game in beating Jordan Karctewski one and love while Mace Eads had court in a two and two win against Dylan Gallup at two singles.
The pairing of Dalton Bailey and Chase Butler won 6-0 in the first set of the one doubles matchup against Sam Moran and Ray Suth, but were pushed to a tiebreaker in the second, won 7-6 (5). Keygan Moiser and Brenden Damron won a marathon match with Kal Wilson and Noel Jawarski 6-4, 7-5.
Riley’s court win came from Lee Ngochi at three singles, beating Aaron Stichter one and love.
The Eads brothers earned both court wins against Marian. Gavin beat Cam Rafinski 6-2, 6-0 and Mace trumped Max White 6-0, 7-6 (6).
Marian’s Jonah Darcy beat Damron at three singles 6-1, 6-1, Josh Burson and Dom Rafinski beat Bailey and Butler 6-2, 7-5, and Evan Koratch and Kenny Klimek bested Moiser and Stichter love and three.
Triton (1-3) will next play Tuesday at home against North Judson, a 5:30 p.m. start.
